Martin & Libby performed complete structural engineering design services for the construction of a 4500-square-foot Lifeguard Station, a 1200-square-foot Public Comfort Station and 200-linear-foot protective seawall. Located at the foot of Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach, the Lifeguard Station contains vehicular storage and maintenance areas; locker and living quarters; and operations and observation areas. The three-story Lifeguard Station is constructed with cast-in-place concrete and detailed for protection from exposure to salt air, wind and water. Similarly, the exterior walls of the one-story Comfort Station are concrete while the interior walls are masonry.
